Good morning! You
open your eyes, take a long and easy stretch, and then you close your
eyes again and rub them. It’s the year 2047 and you just woke up.
You’re now a grandparent with two grandchildren, a fourteen-year-old boy
and a twelve-year-old girl. Just like you when you were younger they
are swimmers. It’s Saturday and you are taking them to a two-week swim
camp so they can be better prepared for an upcoming annual competition.
What will you give
them for breakfast? What words of encouragement will you say to them?
What swimming and
non-swimming equipment or personal items will they be taking with them?
What will the
training facility look like? What kinds of training techniques will be
used? What will the instructors be like? What tools will be available
to evaluate and improve their ability?
For what types of events
will they be training? For what aspects of swimming such as physical
capability, mental outlook, or health will they be tested?
What kinds of food will
be on the menu? What will entertainment be like at camp during the
evenings? How many hours a day or week will they need to practice?
What will be the benefits
of going away to camp for two weeks? What will they have learned or
accomplished at camp that they couldn’t have done at home? |
