Hi there! I just got this in
the mail on Friday! We are so proud of Eric, but this put it over the
top! He may never have broken any school records, what he proved to
himself and his team-mates, what he learned about himself, as a swimmer
and an individual is so unique and valuable. Now I can't believe he's
graduating from college!!
I can't thank you enough for starting him on the right foot, when we
went to that first Fluid Mechanics camp, clear back in 2002!!!
Seriously, your camp gave him an understanding and true appreciation of
what swimming is all about and he's carried it with him through
everything he does.
Thanks so much--
Marcia and Geoff Thumma |

Kelsey had a great weekend
swimming at States. She dropped 41 sec in her 1000 free and took 6th
place in the 13/14 age group and she is only 13. Also had a nice swim in
the 200 free dropping about 6 sec. All of this is due to the lesson she
had with PJ, she seemed to learn so much from him and it shows. Now she
just glides through the water with no effort at all.
Thanks
Kelly |

John, did not have PJ's
email but he wanted to know how Kelsey did at the meet today. PJ worked
with Kelsey Sat night on getting power out of her torso during freestyle
and she swam the 500 free today. She looked great, was rotating with
power in her chest, and had a nice long stroke. It looked like she was
giving no effort at all. In her heat she was in lane 1 out of 8 so the
2nd slowest swimmer, she took the lead and never gave up. She dropped 13
seconds and now has a time of 5:32.33. She came out of the pool and was
not that tired and said she seemed like she glided through the water.
Her coach was shocked at how good she did, I told him she was at Fluid
Mechanics. Please pass this on the PJ and tell him thank you.
What should we work on next?
Thanks

A quick note to John and the
entire staff of Fluid Mechanics to relay a success story -- last night,
Kathryn qualified for the YMCA Nationals in the 50 M backstroke. This is
only her first full year swimming at this level, so we all are very
proud of her accomplishment. She beat the national qualifying time by
more than 0.5 seconds and beat her best time by nearly a full second.
Since returning from the ESU residential camp, she has tried to
incorporate the various tips and techniques into her practices but has
been somewhat frustrated because she hadn't cut "major" time off any
stroke (other swimmers from our team who attended the residential camp
have shown dramatic improvements compared to where they were before
camp). Last night, however, something clicked -- I truly think it was
more psychological than anything -- embracing a goal and thinking
positively about it. She attacked the race and was the only swimmer who
made the cut in that race. She was thrilled!
We'll see you soon. Thanks for everything!

Sophia & I would like to
thank John & Alexis for your great work! Sophia has been training with
Alexis in the past two months. She just did her first 200 & 500 free for
the first time and got a silver time for her 200 free. She said that
things that Alexis taught helped her a lot in her race. Now she can
breathe in both sides. Thanks to Alexis. |

Dear Fluid Mechanics, you
have taught me many things this past year. Holley, i just wanna say that
you taught me many things in the single courses, as well as John, PJ,
Lisa, and Alex (if I am forgetting anyone please forgive me!) i even go
so so so so so so so so much faster now in swim meets. Even my team
coaches ask me how I go so fast and i say," It is because of Fluid
Mechanics"

First, let me say that Fluid
Mechanics has helped me so much and their camp is a thriller. We learned
how to prevent injuries, how to swim each component of freestyle, and we
learned how to have loads of fun. I will never think about swimming the
same way again!!!!!!! John is a great person and you can tell he loves
swimming. Him and the rest of the staff always have great stories to
tell. I also learned how to prepare for a race and what your heart rate
has to be during a certain season. We also designed our own
practices!!!! I really liked Fluid Mechanics and I hope to participate
in another Fluid Mechanics clinic or camp sometime soon. |

I just wanted to say thank you again for the day camp in Fredricksburg.
It was a great experience not only for Lindsey, but for me as well. She
has had only good things to say since. It is refreshing to see her
enthusiasm, especially with a new season just 2 weeks away. We are both
looking forward for her to put to use the things she learned this week.
You have an excellent organization. I was impressed, you were never to
busy to talk to parents. You and Alex made not only an excellent
professional impression, but a great personal one as well. Lindsey not
only respects you guys as teachers, but thinks of you as friends. Great
job, keep up the good work, and God bless. We look forward to seeing you
again soon...... |

I just would like to say that I love attending the personal clinics with
fluid mechanics. I first started with John who was very down to earth
and understanding with me. It was rough at first but he made it easier.
He explained everything from start to finish. I also liked the pamphlets
that you received afterwards. John recommended going to one of their
camps. well, It took some time to get up the courage but I went. I did
the week session at ESU. It was tough at first for me because here I am
swimming for only a few years and I'm with kids half my age that's been
swimming forever. I was reassured by all the consultants that I'll do
just fine. They were right. I had a great time and learned a lot that was
very helpful to me. So I just want to say thanks to all the staff of
Fluid Mechanics for helping me and believing in my ability. Oh yea just
to let everyone know because I've been training the right way I took 4
seconds off my 200 fly. Thank you again for everything. |

John Waldman & Team: John, many thanks for the OUTSTANDING personal
clinic you and your staff conducted for my son, Michael, last Friday (23
June)! The Fluid Mechanics camp was all that I hoped for ... and more!
It was a very professional, well organized, and expertly conducted camp.
I was most impressed by your coaching staff and their personal touch in
communicating with Michael and the other swimmers. Michael and I both
enjoyed working with each of them. I was impressed, too, with the
maturity, dedication and focus of the youngsters in your camp. Their
self discipline and willingness to work at and learn the tasks at hand
was commendable. I'm sure that's due in large part to the type of camp
environment you and your staff create. It's clear that there's a lot
more to the Fluid Mechanics experience than in-water training. The
coaching was first rate, but the lecture/seminar sessions and exercise
periods were equally good! I sent a note to Michael's summer swim team
coach this evening describing the Fluid Mechanics camp and I gave the
camp an overall "A+" rating. Your camp affords each swimmer a quality
growth experience, both as an athlete as well as a young person. I hope
to foster that kind of growth in Michael in the future, and hope that
will be able to attend another Fluid Mechanics training session or camp
in the future. In the meantime, I have a few quick questions: - Can you
provide the address and phone number of the company that takes the
medicine balls? - What's the best technique for exercising with
therabands? - Can you recommend any books on swimming and training, from
both a swimmer's and a parents perspective? Once again, thanks for a
GREAT camp!
Regards, Stan Mushaw |

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to drop a note and say thank you for all your hard work
and dedication into making your recent swim camp at JMU a great success.
My daughter, Katie Moore, had a great time, and said she really learned
a lot! I also wanted to tell you that you have received many words of
praise about how you run your camp. One of the JMU students who was
helping you at the camp told me that the kids at your camp show the
utmost respect not only for their instructors, but for their peers, and
for the campus facilities and yet they still had fun! Those comments
were a credit to all of you. Just having listened to you talk about how
you were going to run your camp and how you run your company proves
that. My hat's off to you! Thanks again for all your hard work and
dedication. Also, those TYR lanyards were a hit with my daughter! She
has everything related to swimming dangling from it now! Now you need
some that say "Fluid Mechanics"!! Best regards for your continued
success, Jane Moore |

I had a masters meet last weekend and I swam the 1500 free. Taking the
knowledge from everyone I've learned from fluid mechanics plus my own
self confidence I bettered my time. I went from a 31 45 81 to a 27 23
83. I found out nothings impossible if you try your hardest. Thanks
once again to all the staff at Fluid Mechanics. Kristen Phillips |

After only three sessions with Fluid Mechanics on the stroke portion of
the Backstroke, my 12 year-old daughter cut 5 seconds off her best time
in the 100 yard Backstroke at the 2002 Winterfest Meet! She achieved a
"Gold" time for the first time in any e vent.
This is a brilliant, technical approach that is presented in a fully
comprehendible manner to the younger swimmer. It gives the swimmer the
knowledge to make sense of the often conflicting instructions given by
swim team coaches. In fact, at only the 100 level of the Fluid Mechanics
Backstroke catalog, I feel my daughter has a better knowledge than many
of the coaches she has had over the years. WGL 1/9/2002 |

Hi--My son, Ben, has attended sessions with both John and P.J. over the
past two months. I have had the pleasure of watching the consultations,
and I feel compel led to write and tell you just how outstanding your
program is. As an educator myself, I can honestly say that the level of
instruction Ben has received from John and P.J. is of superior quality.
After all three sessions, Ben and I have left the pool with a feeling of
exhilaration--not only because of what he had just learned, but because
the Fluid Mechanics program allows a swimmer to glimpse his additional
unrealized potential.
Fluid Mechanics approaches swimming from a completely different angle
than any other swim instruction we've experienced. By explaining how and
why each stroke works the way it does, John and P.J. offer insight we
have not gained from any coach to date.&nb sp; John and P.J. provide the
swimmers with the information necessary to continue learning and
improving, and that is the most exciting part of learning anything! We
look forward to working with you again. Our sincere thanks, Regina and
Ben Da us-Haberle |

Could you pass along some "success story" info to Garvin? He has been
working with our 10 yr. daughter over the past few months. This past
weekend at Junior Olympics, she took 3 sec. off her 200 free, 6 seconds
off her 100 free, 1.5 sec off her 50 free & 1 sec off her 50 breast. Her
strokes looked great- he would have been very proud of her. We will take
a few weeks off & be back in touch to continue some lessons this spring
into the summer. |

Dear John and Sarah at Fluid Mechanics,
I want to share with you our latest happiness. In large part due to
Sarah's fine one-on-one instruction on freestyle starts (1/19), today
1/24, Monica Kane dropped 4 seconds off her 100 free time.
Monica hasn't been able to explain precisely what she did different, but
we, her parents, could really see the difference in her start. What a
confidence booster for Monica! Thanks for that! We're encouraging Monica
to capture this feeling in her new swim journal. Maybe she can recapture
this feeling at the start of each practice/meet. Thanks again Sarah for
your great instruction. You were able to teach a complex subject to her
level (a 10 year old) and she "got it"! Thanks much!
